CAPITAL PROJECT / EQUIPMENT REQUEST
DEPARTMENT: SUBMITTED BY:
Revere & Son Heritage Trust Corp. Vic Del Vecchio
PROJECT / EQUIPMENT TITLE:
Storage Shed
TOTAL PROJECT / EQUIPMENT COST (must be at least $5,000):
$25,000
DESCRIPTION:
A Storage Shed approximately 20’ x 14’ in size.
• Higher quality (and insulated for some heft) locked doors with better hinges (double doors 6’ wide at gable end and
single door 3’ wide on the long side)
• 8’ side walls that peak with higher accessibility
• 2 transom windows to provide some light (no side windows to avoid vandalism)
• Polyethylene resin shingles aka “shakes" (a plasticized, higher quality denser product than simple “vinyl"). Light
yellow color to compliment the existing barn. Never needs painting.
PURPOSE AND JUSTIFICATION:
The Trust requested, and the Select Board approved installation of a pre-made storage shed and advanced an amount
not to exceed $25,000 from Account 142 (restaurant rental fees). The Trust is seeking a Town Meeting shed
appropriation in that amount and, upon approval, transfer the $25,000 TM appropriation to replenish Account 142.
Should TM not approve the capital request, the Trust would itself then raise or appropriate matching funds next year
to deposit in Account 142.
Background info for the need and timing of the storage shed:
In September C. Aspinwall, E. Walsh, C. Doody, V. Del Vecchio and others did a site visit of the barn and mill to create
a punch list of final items that Bernie Plante needed to address before the buildings were transferred to the Town.
During our review of the barn, Ed observed that we needed to remove chairs, tables and other material that had been
stored in a large area in the rear of one of the stairways. Ed explained, our use of that storage space didn’t meet
code compliance.
The repurposed barn mirrors the size and shape of the original structure, built in 1845, to maintain (as much as
reasonably possible) historically accurate interior dimensions. Storage and closet space were in short supply back
then, and continue to be an issue in the soon-to-be museum building. To accommodate the chairs, tables, donated
displays and retail cases, etc., we need exterior storage capacity. And to meet fire and safety code requirements in a
timely manner, we need to do so as soon as reasonably possible - thus our request.
In studying how best to accommodate our storage needs, the Trust looked at various pre-made shed manufacturers
and after a quote process came up with one in particular, Reeds Ferry. Reeds Ferry makes a quality product with a 30
year warranty (25 for the roofing material) that should last for years (RF built the Town’s pre-made irrigation shed).
We priced out an attractive model that, with a discount, should not exceed $25,000.

PROJECT / EQUIPMENT TITLE:
Website Redesign for paulreveremuseum.org
TOTAL PROJECT / EQUIPMENT COST (must be at least $5,000):
$20,000
DESCRIPTION:
First redesign of the paulreveremusuem.org website, which is related to the Revere Heritage
Site properties and attractions at Rolling Mill Way in the Town of Canton and under
management of the Revere & Son Heritage Trust Corporation Board of Trustees.
PURPOSE AND JUSTIFICATION:
The paulreveremuseum.org website is the gateway through which the public can learn everything about
what the Revere and Son Heritage Trust Corporation does and its future goals. The website was
originally, however, designed by amateurs. When compared to the websites of other local but similar
destinations such as Plimoth Plantation (https://plimoth.org/), the USS Salem Museum
(https://www.uss-salem.org/), the Fairbanks House (https://fairbankshouse.org/), and the Concord
Museum (https://concordmuseum.org/), the paulreveremuseum.org website makes a poor visitor
impression. The Revere and Son Heritage Trust is requesting $20,000 to engage a professional website
builder with nonprofit website design experience to create an effective website that can be found easily
through searches, will interest all types of site visitors, increase site traffic, better lead visitors to
donate to the construction of the Paul Revere Museum of Discovery and Innovation, and add to the
Trust’s volunteer corps.

TOWN OF CANTON FORM B - FISCAL 2024 CAPITAL PROJECT / EQUIPMENT REQUEST DEPARTMENT: SUBMITTED BY: Board of Health Barbara Reardon PROJECT / EQUIPMENT TITLE: Emergency Generator to power medical grade vaccine refrigerator and light in Public Health Nurses' Office. TOTAL PROJECT / EQUIPMENT COST (must be at least $5,000): $30,800 DESCRIPTION: Emergency generator is needed to power vaccine refrigerator in Public Health Nurses' Office. PURPOSE AND JUSTIFICATION: The Health Department stores both flu and COVID vaccines in the refrigerator located at 79 Pleasant St.(Pequitside Farm). The Vaccine Unit of MA DPH requires that all vaccines be stored within strict temperature requirements. Temperature logs must be reviewed daily and reported to DPH monthly. Temperature excursions must be reported immediately to DPH. Depending on the severity of the excursion and the sensitivity of the vaccine, vaccine may become unusable. A temperature excursion this fall rendered Flu Mist unusable. Pequitside has experienced numerous power outages. When a power outage is anticipated the Health Department has preemptively stored vaccine in neighboring communities. [storage Unit Placement ood air circulation around the outside of the storage unit is important. Place a storage unit in a well-ventilated room, ving space between the unit, ceiling, and any wall. Nothing should block the cover of the motor compartment. The unit should be firm and level, with the bottom of the unit above the floor. Make sure the unit door opens and closes smoothly and fits squarely against the body of the unit. If not secured properly, unit doors pose a particular risk to maintaining appropriate internal temperatures of vaccine storage units. Studies find most units work best when placed in an area with standard indoor room temperatures, usually between 20° C and 25°C (68° F and 77° F). Check the manufacturer-supplied owner’s manual for additional guidance on placement and spacing. You may see vendors use terms such as “VFC-compliant,” “CDC-compliant,” or “satisfies VEC requirements’ in their marketing materials or on their websites. In this context, "compliance" and related terms may lead consumers to incorrectly believe that CDC or the VFC program has independently assessed and verified the quality of these products. CDC/VEFC is not authorized to assess, validate, verify, or endorse the products or services of private companies. Should you encounter this type of language in vendor marketing materials, please keep in mind that neither CDC nor the VEC program has validated any product or service for compliance with CDC or VFC program requirements or standards, Stabilizing Temperatures in New and Repaired Units It may take two to seven days to stabilize the temperature in a newly installed or repaired refrigerator and two to three days for a freezer. Before using a unit for vaccine storage, check and record the minimum and maximum temperatures each workday for two to seven days. If temperatures cannot be recorded digitally, check and record temperatures a minimum of two times each workday. Once you have two consecutive days of temperatures recorded within the recommended range, your unit is stable and ready for use. — mperature Ranges Refrigerators should maintain temperatures between 2° C and 8°C (96° F and 46° F).” Freezers should maintain temperatures between -50° C and -15° C (-58° F and +5° F), Refrigerator or freezer thermostats should be set at the factory-set or midpoint temperature, which will decrease the likelihood of temperature excursions. Consult the owner’s manual for instructions on how to operate the thermostat. Thermostats are marked in various ways and, in general, show levels of coldness rather than temperatures. The only way to know the temperature where vaccines are stored is to measure and monitor it with a temperature monitoring device. Temperature Monitoring Device (TMD) Every vaccine storage unit must have a TMD. An accurate temperature history that reflects actual vaccine temperatures is critical for protecting your vaccines. Investing in a reliable device is less expensive than replacing vaccines wasted due to the loss of potency that comes from storage at out-of-range temperatures. © CDC recommends a specific type of TMD called a “digital data logger” (DDL). A DDL provides the most accurate storage unit temperature information, including details on how long a unit has been operating outside the recommended temperature range (referred to as a “temperature excursion”). Unlike a simple minimum/maximum thermometer, which only shows the coldest and warmest temperatures reached in a unit, a DDL provides detailed information on all temperatures recorded at preset intervals. Many DDLs use a buffered temperature probe, which is the most accurate way to measure actual vaccine temperatures. Temperatures measured by a buffered probe match vaccine temperatures more closely than those measured by standard thermometers, which tend to reflect only air temperature. Temperature data from a DDL can either be downloaded to a computer using special software or retrieved from a “™bsite. The software or website may also allow you to set the frequency of temperature readings. Reviewing DDL data +» critical for vaccine viability, so it is important to decide whether independent software or a website program works best for your facility. “Probes that are permanently embedded in a buffer are acceptable as long as the temperature monitoring system for the entire unit can be i ion-tested.
