CAPITAL PROJECT / EQUIPMENT REQUEST

DEPARTMENT: |
Music

SUBMITTED BY:
Catherine Eckersley

PROJECT / EQUIPMENT TITLE:
Musical Instrument Replacements

TOTAL PROJECT / EQUIPMENT COST (must be at least $5,000): $10,000

DESCRIPTION:

Continue to fund and improve musical instrument upgrades in the district.

PURPOSE AND JUSTIFICATION:

Each year the district funds musical instruments. Over the past 4 years we have used this
money to expand our program to include upright bass for the orchestra in grades 4-12 and
have used the money to fund our borrowed instruments program which allows students to
borrow due to financial need and to borrow due to inability to fit large instruments on the bus.

As the program continues to grow, this funding would allow for additional purchases of upright

basses, cellos, and storage racks.

CAPITAL PROJECT / EQUIPMENT REQUEST

DEPARTMENT:
Science

SUBMITTED BY:
Ericka Fitzgerald

PROJECT / EQUIPMENT TITLE:
CHS Science Lab Table Replacement

TOTAL PROJECT / EQUIPMENT COST (must be at least $5,000): $33,000

DESCRIPTION:

Replace old and damaged tables in the CHS Science lab to allow for better student

outcomes.

PURPOSE AND JUSTIFICATION:

The lab tables in rooms 150, 152, 156 and 158 are all falling apart. They are impossible to
keep level as the screw feet do not stay. The legs are falling off and they are generally
becoming hazardous and useless for physics labs which often require flat, stable surfaces.
We would like to purchase new tables for these classrooms to have proper labspace.

PROJECT / EQUIPMENT TITLE:
Safety Planning for Entryway Access

TOTAL PROJECT / EQUIPMENT COST (must be at least $5,000): $60,000

DESCRIPTION:
Study and design safety items for the entryway for each school building.

PURPOSE AND JUSTIFICATION:

For safety purposes, this capital request would allow the District to procure design services to study
and design various options for implementation of access improvements in each school building.
Specifically, this allows for a review of potentially vulnerable areas where the installation of items like
bollards, ballistic glass, and other safety tools would benefit the district. With this information in hand,
the District can prioritize those upgrades in future capital requests.

The District is hopeful to implement simple/low cost solutions in FY26 and this study would inform
future year capital requests of larger cost/scale.

CAPITAL PROJECT / EQUIPMENT REQUEST

DEPARTMENT:
Athletics/CHS

SUBMITTED BY:
Daniel Erickson

PROJECT / EQUIPMENT TITLE:
Lower Campus Traffic Study

TOTAL PROJECT / EQUIPMENT COST (must be at least $5,000): $60,000

DESCRIPTION:

Study traffic pattern and pedestrian flow for recommended improvements.

PURPOSE AND JUSTIFICATION:

The existing lower campus traffic flow causes significant safety challenges during athletic
events and during school days. Lack of clarity of right of way when merging onto the lower
parking lot can be dangerous. Pedestrian interaction with the traffic areas is also challenging.

This capital item would produce a study and recommendations to inform future capital
requests. The District is hopeful to implement simple solutions in FY26 and request larger

cost/scale items in future capital requests.

CAPITAL PROJECT / EQUIPMENT REQUEST

DEPARTMENT:
Preschool

SUBMITTED BY:
Shelley Needle

PROJECT / EQUIPMENT TITLE:
Rodman Preschool Access Improvement

TOTAL PROJECT / EQUIPMENT COST (must be at least $5,000): $100,000

DESCRIPTION:
Improve access for our Preschool students and families within the Rodman building.

PURPOSE AND JUSTIFICATION:

For safety purposes, the Preschool program would like to install a wall and door with key card
and other safety items to better control access to the Preschool program on first floor of the
Rodman building. Additionally, access from the exterior to interior of the building for our
Preschool students and families require upgrades including asphalt areas of the parking lot
and walkways, ramp/handicap access to the building, and sidewalk improvements. All of
these items would improve the flow of students and families through our building while
resolving safety hazards.

CAPITAL PROJECT / EQUIPMENT REQUEST

DEPARTMENT:

SUBMITTED BY:
David Buccelli

PROJECT / EQUIPMENT TITLE:
Exterior Door Improvements

TOTAL PROJECT / EQUIPMENT COST (must be at least $5,000): $27,000

DESCRIPTION:

School building exterior doors are a critical safety item that needs various levels of upgrading
and improvement throughout the district.

PURPOSE AND JUSTIFICATION:

Doors at each building have had ongoing damage and egress issues. While critical doors have been
replaced in years past, there are others that still require improvement. Additionally, uniform
numbering of doors and latching systems are critical public safety elements that should be updated.

This request would replace one significantly damaged door and would allow for the replenishment of
our inventory of door equipment to allow staff to immediately respond to damage, ensuring the
continued safety of our buildings.
