TOWN OF CANTON PLANNING BOARD MINUTES WEDNESDAY, January 3, 2024 Present: Patricia McDermott, Chair David McCarthy, Vice Chair Kathy McCormack Jim Quigley, Member Bob MacDonald, Interim Member Chair McDermott called to order the Planning Board Meeting of January 3, 2024 at 6:oo p.m. A motion was made Chair McDermott and seconded by Mr. McCarthy to go into Executive Session. All in favor, Motion Approved 5-0. 6:oo p.m. - 6:30 p.m. - EXECUTIVE SESSION Chair McDermott explained to the Board that she has been attending Stormwater Meetings and the Committee has been discussing having all engineering and stormwater reviews be done in-house. Mr. Houston does a wonderful job and moves things along very quickly. The biggest complaint is that there is no follow-up and a lot of the reports are duplication of reviews with Planning and Conservation. An example is the Magnolia Subdivision which was done incorrectly and there was no follow- up or enforcement to complete it correctly and up to the Town's standards. Work is only inspected if we are asked for an inspection. Mr. McCarthy stated that he feels Mr. Houston is impartial and fair with his reviews and he has zero confidence in the Public Works Department. Chair McDermott will keep the Board updated on this project. Ms. McCormack stated that she will be attending the next Stormwater Meeting so all her questions can be answered. A motion was made Chair McDermott and seconded by Mr. McCarthy to go exit Executive Session and return to the meeting. All in favor, Motion Approved 4-0.
