CONTINUATIONS:
1. JOHN & KAREN KROWSKI —1030 & 1034 PLEASANT ST. — DEP #124-746
John Rhodes of Toomey -Munson & Associates, Inc. was present on behalf of the
applicant to provide an update of the project to the Commission.
He stated that they have re -sized the detention basin. It will be grassed in at the
bottom and a pipe connection will be put in at the bottom of the basin. In
addition, they plan to put grass on one side and leave a gravel channel on the
other side in order to introduce the water into the ground. The calculations
showed that the basin would contain the one-year storm. The two-year storm
produced a little output. The water will stay in the basin for 24 hours.
Mr. Rhodes also presented the restoration plan. There was a discussion of
potential plantings along the riverfront and on the house lots. The applicant plans
on using Ann Martin of LEC to suggest plantings.
The applicant requested a continuation.
Motion made by Debra Sundin to continue the hearing to May 18, 2000, seconded
by Ed Lynch.
Vote: Unanimous.
2. GEORGE & NANCY BATES — UNIVERSITY ROAD — DEP #124-744
John Rhodes of Toomey -Munson & Associates, Inc. represented the applicant.
He stated that they have revised the storm drainage system and have received the
following comments from Fred Pfischner:
(1) Fred was concerned over the fact that there was no groundwater data. Mr.
Rhodes explained that the applicant is unable to obtain the data because of the
sensitivity of the area. He suggested that the tests be done at the completion
of the archaeological work and, at that point, the applicant would file an
Amended Notice of Intent, if necessary;
(2) The drainage calculations are based on a certain number of parking spaces
being gravel. Mr. Rhodes stated that in the event that the spaces needed to be
paved in the future, the applicant would re -do the drainage;
(3) Mr. Pfischner stated that the riprap discharge area needs to be larger. The
applicant has enlarged this area;
(4) The old paved sluiceway on the site drains into the wetlands. The applicant
has added a basin that would connect the sluiceway to the drainage system;
and
(5) The Mass. Highway easement shows a smaller pipe than is shown on the plan.
The pipe will be changed so that they are the same size.
