Canton Public Library Board of Trustees June 17,2019 Minutes Attendees: Susan Cogliano, Chris Untersee, Emily Prigot, Peg Mead, George Comeau, Nancy Connery, Dorothy Shea, Andrea Capone, Director The Meeting was called to order at 7:06 pm Library Tour and Discussion of MBLC Design Specialist Andrea accompanied, by librarian Lisa Quinn, conducted a library walk through explaining the overall vision of creating more quiet spaces in areas that would naturally lend themselves to this concept, e.g the old lobby, historic room and Art and Music Room. Lisa and Andrea also pointed out that there has become less of a need for reference materials and a reference desk presence which would open up more space as well as speak to reduced need for coverage of this area. These proposed changes would accommodate the increased presence of teens as well as needs of patrons looking for quiet space. Additionally, moving all non-fiction into the same area would decrease patron confusion and open up additional group study space. Minutes After returning to the conference room, the minutes from May 20, 2019 were approved unanimously. Director's Report th I am pleased to report that Summer hours will begin on June 29. Andrea will be working on next year's budget with us in upcoming months and so this is a possibility to consider. Sub Committee Reports: The Behavior and Conduct subcommittee has had five meetings to review our policies and is continuing to look at the issue.
