Minutes
January 24, 2017
Memorial Hall, 801 Washington Street, Canton, MA
Salah Meeting Room
7:00 p.m.
Board members present: Chairman Robert E. Burr, Jr., Vice Chairman Mark J. Porter, Clerk Kevin T.
Feeney, John J. Connolly, Victor D. Del Vecchio
Also present: Charles J. Aspinwall, Town Administrator and Jennifer Kemalian, Administrative Secretary
Meeting was called to order at 7:05 p.m.
Team Crown, the Canton Junior Community Problem Solvers, was before the Board to give a
presentation on waste and the environment. The members of the Problem Solvers introduced
themselves and gave their presentation with ideas on how to reduce waste in the community and to
help keep Canton clean. The Board thanked the group for its presentation.
Mr. Feeney announced the continuation of the Walpole Terrace traffic hearing. Approximately six
months prior, the Board had held a traffic hearing concerning complaints of cars and trucks parking on
the side of the road and blocking the use of the roadway. A parking restriction on Walpole terrace was
i mplemented at that meeting. Both fire and police have reported that there has been no issues on the
road since the implementation took place. The Board had scheduled this continuation to discuss the
impact on a business located on Walpole Terrace, Canton Power Equipment, if there was any. The
Board opened the hearing for comments from the public.
Anthony Vinciguerra, 44 Walpole Terrace, noted that he had moved to Walpole Terrace in September.
He reported that he hadn't seen anyone disobeying the no parking signs, but that vehicles do turn
around in his driveway. He noted that he would like to see the no parking continue but is open to
discussing an alternative if the business is being severely impacted.
It was noted that, despite direct communication with Canton Power Equipment, no representatives
from the business were present at the hearing.
The Board discussed keeping the parking restriction in place in the absence of any feedback from the
business owner.
Motion was made to close the Walpole Terrace Traffic Hearing.
