The Blue Ribbon Traffic Committee is an Advisory Board...the BOS want us to go through the Traffic
Committee as it was originally set up instead of how we have been doing things. The Traffic Committee
will evaluate and "vet" our ideas and will then pass on or not pass on to the Board of Selectmen. There
was some discussion of this as our members thought we had actually been able to help citizens, etc.
Peter Pineo is a member of the more senior Traffic Committee that meets sporadically. We are
supposed to tell citizens who come to us with smaller or easy to fix problem to fill out the traffic concern
form. We talked about maybe going to one of their meetings or have them come to one of ours and
possibly merging the two committees.
Article 18 which was the Luce School signage will be withdrawn as it is in the DPW budget to do.
The majority of the Finance Committee did not support our other articles as they don't want us
competing with DPW for money or using free cash. They would rather we use mitigation money. The
minority felt it was important to go to town meeting so people can have a say in how some of the traffic
money is spent.
Tony Braconi's article on the Town wide traffic study was not supported either and he didn't come back
to us with how it has helped other towns. It also doesn't have a scope of work or what the outcome of
the study will help. Gary Ronan felt it was not defined enough.
Updates from members:
Kathy McCormack gave Kevin Feeney a list of York Street concerns from the York Street
Neighborhood Association.
Also, complaints again about Ponkapoag Way and traffic concern forms not being answered.
The group voted to take Ponl<apoag Way and the entire Ponkapoag area as a major traffic
concern. Mark also suggested they get a lot of the people in the neighborhood involved.
Previous Meeting minutes accepted.
