However, they frequently work after 3 and she has called the DPW, Police, DPW, Police, etc. because it needs to be monitored better. Mark will call the town administrator. (3) people came to discuss their opposition to the Revere Street bridge and brought a petition signed by 59 people which Kevin Feeney accepted. They are concerned about the added traffic to Neponset Street along with the cost to the town of maintaining another road. They are also concerned that the rotary for the new road was taken out, more trucks getting stuck with the possibility of Chapman Street being closed to trucks, unfinished sidewalks in the area along with concerns that there are more children now. There are not a lot of options....people came from Norfolk Street because it is increasingly being used...there are no sidewalks, its narrow, people speed...they didn't know what could be done about that....one way maybe?? They are upset the traffic light was taken out of the project. Jim Fitzpatrick mentioned that both the Revere Street and Bolivar Street bridges need to be raised so the ladder trucks can go under them. He did say that life safety services will be much quicker to reach people with the new road. Jeremy Comeau from the Planning Board was in the audience and thinks all boards have been transparent. The planning board has a lot of documents and he offered to make himself available so citizens can come and look at them. He said they added two raised crosswalks which act as speed bumps instead of the small roundabout. Money is in the project for a new traffic light if one is needed. The Revere Street project has been ongoing with a lot of public input over the past 10 years. Other Boards Present: The Finance director explained how solutions to traffic problems can be incorporated into the DPW's Capital Budget. Traffic forms are filled out and quotes received. The DPW, Mike Trotta explained that the DPW has to compete with other projects so they prioritize what needs to be done. He said currently they try to resolve traffic issues as they do streets which is how the Pleasant Street rotary came about.....it was less expensive then a full set of lights and the layout was perfect for it. Ultimately the BOS decides what gets done. He thought a traffic engineer may need to be hired by the Town along with a revolving fund for traffic concerns. Previous Meeting minutes accepted.
