Mr. Justin Brown from Columbia Gas was before the Board to request an extension of hours of work on
two projects, one on York Street and one on Neponset Street. The Board of Selectmen questioned Mr.
Brown on past practice of working beyond allowed hours without seeking BOS permission. They
expressed their dissatisfaction with the way Columbia Gas has been leaving streets when the projects
are finished. The Board questioned the need to extend the hours. Mr. Brown explained that the jobs
require more than the six hours a day currently allowed.
The Board discussed authorizing the Town Administrator to make a determination on an extension of
hours for Columbia Gas to work on the two projects discussed because Mr. Brown did not have a
schedule of specific days he was requesting.
Motion was made to authorize the Town Administrator to make a determination on an extension of
hours for Columbia Gas to work on the two projects and to communicate directly with the Columbia Gas
representative.
Motion: Mr. Del Vecchio Second: Mr. Porter Vote: 4-0
Mr. Aspinwall made the Board aware that the he was recommending that they wait on awarding the
contract for the purchase of power as the consultant did not recommend accepting the bids received.
The Board agreed to wait until the next meeting.
