A discussion regarding individual contracts followed. The BUS explained the equity
adjustments being proposed in the individual contracts was based on a survey of
comparable salaries from Canton's peer benchmark towns and the BOS's objective to
remain near the average of those benchmark towns, and 20 year step being granted was a
past practice for many other employees.
The BUS supports the request made by the Town Clerk for an equity adjustment and has
included sufficient funds in their proposed budget to fund this adjustment, as they did for
the Town Administrator, Information Systems manager and the Network Coordinator.
The BUS also responded to questions relating to FINCOM's review of the contracts in
question that have been negotiated to date. The BUS noted that the equity adjustments
and all salaries included in these contracts have been included in the 2012 Municipal
budget that was approved by the BUS. Therefore, no additional funds need to be
established by FINCOM for these or other individual contracts being negotiated.
A motion made to adjourn the meeting at 10:40 p.m.
