Board of Selectmen
June 28, 2016
Memorial Hall - Salah Meeting Room
Present: Robert E. Burr Jr., Chairman, Kevin T. Feeney, Clerk, Victor D. Del Vecchio, Member, John J.
Connolly, Member, William T. Friel, Town Administrator, Jennifer Kemalian, Administrative Secretary.
Meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m.
It was noted that Mark Porter would not be in attendance at the meeting as he was away on a personal
matter.
Motion was made to go into executive session for the purpose of litigation strategy.
Mr. Burr declared that discussing this matter in open meeting would have a detrimental effect on the
bargaining position of the Town of Canton and therefore will be discussed in Executive Session.
Each answered in the affirmative.
Ms. Feeney: Affirmative

Mr. Burr: Affirmative
Mr. Connolly: Affirmative
It was noted that the Board would be returning to open session at the conclusion of executive session.
Motion was made to convene in open session at the conclusion of executive session.
Motion: Mr. Feeney Second: Mr. Del Vecchio Vote: 4-0
Open Session was called to order at 7:05 p.m.
Charlie Doody, Canton Fire Chief, introduced and congratulated the 2016 Norwood Hospital Paramedic
of the Year Award, Jamie Meier, Canton Fire Department EMS Coordinator. He explained Mr. Meier's
dedication and skills lead to this achievement. The Board congratulated Firefighter Meier as well.
Chief Doody continued by asking for the Board's approval of the abatement request for the
uncollectable ambulance bills before them that evening. He noted that the abatement request was for
$19,448.27 and that it was significantly lower than the previous request.
Motion was made to approve the Fire Department Uncollectable Ambulance Abatement request in the
a mount of $19,448.27.
