Minutes Open Space Committee Meeting of July 28, 2015 On Tuesday, July 28, 2015 the Open Space Committee met at 4pm at the Canton Library Conference Room. Attending: Lisa Lopez (representing CCPC), Alan Leary (citizen representative), Marilyn Curran (citizen representative) Absent: Carl Lavin (Con Com representative), Fred Fairfield (citizen representative), Tori McLain (Planning Board representative), Parks & Recreation representative 1.Lisa Lopez had been asked by the Board of Selectmen to convene the first Committee meeting, after which the Committee leadership would be chosen by the Committee. She described the role of this temporary Committee as providing input to the permanent Paul Revere Commission regarding (i) how will the Open Space which part of the Revere Heritage Park be used by the public, and (ii) what characteristics or amenities of the Open Space should be considered, to optimize these expected public use experiences. Consideration should be given to issues relating to green space, waterways, trails and walk ways, as well as active and passive recreation and/or education. 2.Ms. Lopez described the expected process to engage the public , whereby Committee input would be shared with the Developer’s landscape architect who will develop various alternate landscape plans for the Open Space. These plans will then be shared with the Canton public who will be asked to provide input and feedback. Ideally, the plan to be adopted will be the result of a collaborative process between the landscape architect, the Committee, the Revere Commission and the Board of Selectmen to whom the Commission reports. Ms. Lopez distributed to the Committee the sections of the Plymouth Rubber Development Agreement that pertain to the Open Space, including the allocated budget to be funded by the Developer. The budget of $130,000 includes the landscape architect design fee. The expense of grading, seeding and irrigation will be borne by the Developer and is not part of the $130,000 budget for Open Space. 3.The Committee decided to defer electing Committee leadership because there was not a quorum. (One committee member was in the hospital, two others were unavailable, and Parks & Recreation had not yet chosen its representative.)

4.Ms. Lopez will reach out to the Developer for an update on the engagement of the landscape architect and try to schedule a next Committee meeting at a time the landscape architect can attend. There being no other business, the meeting was adjourned at approximately 5pm. A true and accurate record: _____________________ Attest: Lisa Lopez
