Minutes Board of Selectmen February 24, 2015 Memorial Hall - Salah Meeting Room Present: Victor D. Del Vecchio, Chairman, Avril Elkort, Vice-Chairman, John J. Connolly, Clerk, Gerald A. Salvatori, Jr., Member, William T. Friel, Town Administrator, Jennifer Bright, Administrative Secretary. Meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. It was noted that Mr. Burr would not be in attendance at the meeting due to a prior business commitment. Betsy Roche, Director of Development and Dan Burke, President of the Arc of South Norfolk gave a presentation on what their organization is about. They explained that the Arc of South Norfolk is an organization that provides support for citizens with developmental and intellectual delays. It provides assistance and programs to many families and residents of Norfolk County. There are programs for daily living instruction, recreational programs, family support, individual care and more. It serves all 12 towns in Norfolk County and each town contributes an annual amount to the Arc. Ms. Roche and Mr. Burke were seeking Canton's continued support. The BOS noted that they were fully supportive of the Arc, but that they would be voting the budget at a future meeting. The BOS thanked Ms. Roche and Mr. Burke for the presentation. Deb Sundin, Chairman of the Conservation Commission was before the Board regarding a request for an increase in the operating budget. She noted that she was asking for $500 for a hand held GPS system, and also funding in the amount of $34,069 to increase the current part time Conservation Agent to full time. She noted that part of the $34,069 could be funded through a Stormwater revolving fund in an amount of about $24,000. For clarification, Mr. Del Vecchio pointed out that essentially the increase in the operating budget would then only be approximately $10,000 due to the offset of the Stormwater revolving fund. The Board thanked Ms. Sundin for her presentation. Action Items/New Business Motion was made to approve an application to obtain a (special) license to serve alcoholic beverages at a one day event for Trinity Episcopal Church, One Blue Hill River Road on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at 6:30 p.m. until Sunday, March 15, 2015 at 12:30 a.m. contingent upon Building Commissioner and Fire Chief approval.
