INFORMAL HEARINGS

Roseanna and Lino Aiello – Alfredo’s – sign (follow up)
Lino Aiello represented Alfredo’s regarding follow up on graphics to the signage on site
at 2182 Washington St.. it is an internally illuminated sign. Sig n is red, black, green and
white. 87” to top of sign. Mr. Pando said he is pleased with the new freestanding sign. It
is much nicer. That is a busy intersection, smaller, for safety, appropriate use of
freestanding sign. It is 15s.f., and a directory sign. The flag sign on the building is
appropriate. And the welcome to Canton sign is in keeping with the overall project.
Mr. Marini asked if the Alfredo’s sign is double sided, and the Welcome sign is single

property. Mr. Aiello said it is on his property. The welcome to Canton sign will be on
Mass Highway property. The main freestanding sign is actually closer to the building
than the former sign (which will be re moved). Chairman Carroll made sure that the sign
will not interfere with the visibility. There is a curb cut there. Mr. Pando said the safe
answer is that the sign will set back far enough, you won’t look left unless you are out in
the street. He recommends not blocking visibility. Ms. Sheridan brought up a cut
through in the fence. Mr. Aiello said that the neighbor (medical building) wanted it
closed. People park there and walk through to Crowell’s. Mr. Pando said the issue is that
Mr. Aiello is ok with it, but would need to get permission from the medical building
owner. Chairman Carroll said it has been a convenience for 40 years, but it is not within
the authority of this Board to require the petitioner to do this. Mr. Pando said that
Alfredo’s is new to Canton, and ask if possible to do a cut through from the owner of the
