BOARD OF SELECTMEN MINUTES AUGUST 9, 2005 MEMORIAL HALL Present: Robert E. Burr, Jr., Chairman, Victor D. Del Vecchio, Vice-Chairman; John J. Connolly, Clerk; Avril T. Elkort, Member; Gerald A. Salvatori, Jr., Member, William T. Friel, Town Administrator; and Judy Nelson, Administrative Secretary Location: Salah Room, Memorial Hall Meeting was called to Order at 7:02 p.m. Mr. Burr asked permission to take an item out of order. Mr. Burr updated the public on the progress of the downtown-wiring project. Mr. Burr stated that the Board of Selectmen believed the project would be largely complete in the fall of 2005. He noted unfortunately all aspect of the project would not be completed until March of 2006. Mr. Burr indicated when attending the Meeting on 06-7-2005, the Board was shocked to hear that the Verizon work would not be completed until March of 2006. The Board of Selectmen was not happy with the lack of communication between utility companies. Verizon contends that work will be done on March 31, 2006 with the exception of five poles off of Washington Street. These riser poles will be removed at a later date. He noted that this would have no impact on service. Mr. Burr noted that NSTAR was aware of these date changes. It was also stressed that this would have no negative impact on the Streetscape Project. Mr. Burr again thanked the public for the continued support and patience. Class II License - Frank Leahy Motors located at 16 Williams Street: Mr. Friel updated the Board on the status of the above-referenced Class II License held by Frank Leahy, III. Unfortunately, at this time this matter is still pending. Mr. Leahy has retained an attorney. Mr. Friel has spoken with Mr. Leahy's attorney who provided some new documentation. This case is still uncertain in the eyes of probate. The Leahy family has made an effort to find out the status of ownership. Mr. Friel noted that the Town had several options available to them and that at this time he would recommend extending this Class II license until 12-31-05. He noted that at this time, this matter might still be in probate, but that the Town would be able explore all options. Mr. Friel noted that if the Board required more information, he would provide this information upon request. Motion was made to extend the Class II License for the sale of second hand motor vehicles until 12-31-05 at which time this matter will be reviewed and a decision made. Motion: John J.
