Medical or dental labs: A laboratory where microbiological, chemical, hematological, biophysical, cytological, immuno-hematological, or pathological examinations are performed on materials derived from the human body to provide information for the diagnosis, prevention, or treatment of a disease or assessment of a medical condition (see Executive Office of Health and Human Services 101 CMR 320). This excludes scientific -163- or research laboratories and those categorized as Level 4 by the National Institutes of Health.
